John 21

Jon 21:1 After all that, Jesus revealed himself to his disciples again at the Sea of Tiberias, and this is how it went.
Jon 21:2 Simon Peter, Thomas the Twin, Nathanael from Cana of Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other of Jesus’ disciples were together.
Jon 21:3 Simon Peter says to them, “I’m going fishing.” They replied, “We’re coming with you” and went onto the ship. But that night they caught nothing at all.
Jon 21:4 In the morning Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples didn’t recognize him.
Jon 21:5 He calls out to them, “Haven’t you guys caught any edible fish?” “Not a thing,” they replied.
Jon 21:6 “Throw the net over the right side of the ship and you will!” said Jesus. They did so, and the catch was so large they were unable to haul it in.
Jon 21:7 Then the disciple Jesus loved said to Peter, “It’s the Master!” When Peter heard this he wrapped a garment around himself (for he had stripped for work) and dove into the sea.
Jon 21:8 Now the other disciples came in the other boat, dragging the net full of fish, because they weren’t far off-shore (about 100 yards).
Jon 21:9 As they disembarked to shore they saw fish and bread cooking over a charcoal fire.
Jon 21:10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you just caught!
Jon 21:11 ” So Peter pulled the net up onto shore, and it was stuffed with 153 large fish. Somehow the net didn’t tear.
Jon 21:12 Jesus says to them, “Come and have dinner!” But none of the disciples dared to ask him who he was, since they knew it was the Master.
Jon 21:13 Then Jesus takes the bread and passes it around, and likewise with the fish.
Jon 21:14 This was already the third time Jesus revealed himself to his disciples after he rose from the dead.
Jon 21:15 After dinner Jesus says to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these others?” And Peter replies, “Yes Master, you know I am fond of you.” And Jesus says, “Pasture my lambs.”
Jon 21:16 Jesus asks him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” And Peter replies, “Yes Master, you know I am fond of you.” And Jesus says, “Shepherd my sheep.”
Jon 21:17 Jesus asks him a third time, “Simon, son of John, are you fond of me?” Peter was distressed because Jesus said ‘Are you fond of me’ the third time, and he replied, “Yes Master, you know everything and you know I am fond of you.” And Jesus says, “Pasture my sheep.
Jon 21:18 “Now I tell you very truly, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went wherever you chose, but when you are old you will stretch out your hands and someone else will dress you and take you where you don’t want to go.”
Jon 21:19 He said this to indicate the kind of death by which he would honor God. And having said this he says to him, “Follow me.”
Jon 21:20 Turning around, Peter sees the disciple Jesus loved following Jesus (the one who leaned back at dinner near Jesus’ chest and asked who would betray him).
Jon 21:21 Peter asks Jesus, “What about this one?”
Jon 21:22 “If I want him to remain until I return, what concern is that of yours?” Jesus replied. “You follow me.”
Jon 21:23 Then the rumor spread among the others that this disciple would never die. But Jesus didn’t say that; he only said “What concern is it of yours if he remains till I return?”
Jon 21:24 This is the disciple testifying about these things and writing about them, and we know that his testimony is valid.
Jon 21:25 Now there is a lot more Jesus did, which if it were written down as well, would certainly be too much for the whole world to contain!
