John 2

Jon 2:1 Now on the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and Jesus’ mother was there.
Jon 2:2 Jesus and his disciples were also invited.
Jon 2:3 When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They are out of wine.”
Jon 2:4 Jesus says to her, “What does that have to do with me, dear woman? My time has not yet come.”
Jon 2:5 But his mother says to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
Jon 2:6 Now there were six stone water jars there, for use in Judean cleansing rituals, each with a capacity of two or three measures.
Jon 2:7 Jesus says to them, “Fill up the jars to the brim with water,” and so they did.
Jon 2:8 Then he told them, “Now dip some out and take it to the master of ceremonies,” and so they did.
Jon 2:9 Now when the master of ceremonies tasted the water that had been turned into wine, not knowing its origin (though the servants who had dipped it out knew), he summons the bridegroom
Jon 2:10 and says to him, “Everyone else serves the best wine first and then brings out the cheap wine after the guests are drunk, but you have saved the best for last!”
Jon 2:11 This was the first of the miracles Jesus did in Cana of Galilee. It revealed his majesty, and his disciples put their trust in him.
Jon 2:12 Afterward he went down into Capernaum, along with his mother, siblings, and disciples, where they remained for several days.
Jon 2:13 It was near the Passover of the Judeans, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
Jon 2:14 In the temple compound he found brokers and merchants selling oxen, sheep, and doves.
Jon 2:15 Making a whip out of ropes, he threw everyone out of the temple compound, including the animals. He upended the brokers’ tables, scattering their coins,
Jon 2:16 and said to those selling doves, “Get these things out of here! Do not turn my Father’s house into a merchant’s house!”
Jon 2:17 Then his disciples remembered that it was written, “Passion for your house will consume me.”
Jon 2:18 Then the Judeans demanded, “What is the meaning of this?”
Jon 2:19 Jesus responded, “You will destroy this temple, but in three days I will put it up again.”
Jon 2:20 The Judeans retorted, “It took forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to put it up in three days!?”
Jon 2:21 But he was talking about the temple of his body.
Jon 2:22 When he was awakened from the dead, his disciples remembered he said this, and they believed the scripture and what Jesus said.
Jon 2:23 Now while Jesus was in Jerusalem for the Passover festival, many accepted him because of the miracles they saw him do.
Jon 2:24 But Jesus did not put much stock in them himself, knowing how people are.
Jon 2:25 He needed no one’s testimony about anyone since he knew what was in a person.
