Act 25:1 Three days after Festus arrived in the province, he went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea.
Act 25:2 The ruling priests and leading Judeans there informed him of their complaint against Paul,
Act 25:3 and they asked him a favor: to transfer Paul to Jerusalem. (They had planned to kill him in an ambush along the way.)
Act 25:4 But Festus told them that Paul would be kept in Caesarea, though he himself was about to return there at once.
Act 25:5 And he added, “Whoever is able may go with me, and if there is anything about the man that doesn’t add up, let them submit a charge.”
Act 25:6 After staying with them for no more than eight or ten days, he went down to Caesarea. The next day he took his seat to hold court and summoned Paul to be brought in.
Act 25:7 When he arrived, the Judeans who came down from Jerusalem stood around him and hurled many serious charges at him, but they could not prove any of them.
Act 25:8 In his defense Paul stated, “I have committed no crime against the law of the Judeans, against the temple compound, or against Caesar.”
Act 25:9 Now since Festus wanted to curry favor with the Judeans, he responded to Paul by asking, “Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem to face trial there concerning these charges?”
Act 25:10 “I am standing in the court of Caesar where I should be judged,” Paul replied. “I have wronged none of the Judeans, which you know better than anyone.
Act 25:11 But if I have in fact done wrong and committed something worthy of death, I do not refuse to die. Yet if there is nothing to these accusations they are bringing against me, no one can hand me over to them as a favor. I appeal to Caesar!"
Act 25:12 Then Festus, after consulting the council, said, “You have appealed to Caesar; to Caesar you will go!”
Act 25:13 After a few days had passed, King Agrippa and Bernice arrived in Caesarea and greeted Festus.
Act 25:14 After they had been there for a few days, Festus brought Paul’s case to the king’s attention: “There is a certain man who was left here as a prisoner by Felix.
Act 25:15 When I came to Jerusalem the ruling priests and Judean elders brought charges against him and asked for a conviction.
Act 25:16 But I replied that Romans are not in the habit of surrendering someone as a favor, without first giving the accused a chance to face their accusers and give a defense against the charges.
Act 25:17 So when they gathered in this place, I wasted no time but convened the court the next day and took my seat, and then I summoned him.
Act 25:18 “But when his accusers stood around him, they did not bring up even one of the terrible charges I had expected.
Act 25:19 Instead, it was all about violations of their own religion, and it concerned a certain Jesus who died but who Paul claimed was alive.
Act 25:20 Now since I had no understanding of such questions, I asked whether he’d be willing to go to Jerusalem to face trial over this.
Act 25:21 But when Paul appealed to have his case examined by the imperial court, I ordered that he be held until I can send him to Caesar.”
Act 25:22 Then Agrippa said to Festus, “I’d like to hear this person myself.” “You will hear him tomorrow,” he replied.
Act 25:23 The next day Agrippa and Bernice arrived with much pageantry, entering the audience hall accompanied by legion commanders and prominent citizens. At Festus’ command, Paul was brought in,
Act 25:24 and then Festus began to speak: “King Agrippa, and all ladies and gentlemen here with us! You see before you this one about whom all the Judeans have interceded with me, both here and in Jerusalem, to be put to death.
Act 25:25 I determined that he had done nothing worthy of death, but since he appealed to the imperial court, I decided to send him there.
Act 25:26 “But I have nothing specific to write to the Sovereign. So I have put him before you all, and especially before you, King Agrippa, so that through further examination I may find something to write.
Act 25:27 For it seems pointless to me to send off a prisoner without listing specific charges against him.”

Act 25:1 φηστος ουν επιβας τη επαρχεια μετα τρεις ἡμερας ανεβη εις ἱεροσολυμα απο καισαρειας
Act 25:2 ενεφανισαν τε αυτω οἱ αρχιερεις και οἱ πρωτοι των ιουδαιων κατα του παυλου και παρεκαλουν αυτον
Act 25:3 αιτουμενοι χαριν κατ᾽ αυτου ὁπως μεταπεμψηται αυτον εις ιερουσαλημ ενεδραν ποιουντες ανελειν αυτον κατα την ὁδον
Act 25:4 ὁ μεν ουν φηστος απεκριθη τηρεισθαι τον παυλον εις καισαρειαν ἑαυτον δε μελλειν εν ταχει εκπορευεσθαι
Act 25:5 οἱ ουν εν ὑμιν φησιν δυνατοι συγκαταβαντες ει. τι εστιν εν τω ανδρι ατοπον κατηγορειτωσαν αυτου
Act 25:6 διατριψας δε εν αυτοις ἡμερας ου πλειους οκτω η δεκα καταβας εις καισαρειαν τη επαυριον καθισας επι του βηματος εκελευσεν τον παυλον αχθηναι
Act 25:7 παραγενομενου δε αυτου περιεστησαν αυτον οἱ απο ἱεροσολυμων καταβεβηκοτες ιουδαιοι πολλα και βαρεα αιτιωματα καταφεροντες ἁ ουκ ισχυον αποδειξαι
Act 25:8 του παυλου απολογουμενου ὁτι ουτε εις τον νομον των ιουδαιων ουτε εις το ἱερον ουτε εις καισαρα τι ἡμαρτον
Act 25:9 ὁ φηστος δε θελων τοις ιουδαιοις χαριν καταθεσθαι αποκριθεις τω παυλω ειπεν θελεις εις ἱεροσολυμα αναβας εκει περι τουτων κριθηναι επ᾽ εμου
Act 25:10 ειπεν δε ὁ παυλος επι του βηματος καισαρος ἑστως ειμι οὑ με δει κρινεσθαι ιουδαιους ουδεν ηδικησα ὡς και συ καλλιον επιγινωσκεις
Act 25:11 ει. μεν ουν αδικω και αξιον θανατου πεπραχα τι ου παραιτουμαι το αποθανειν ει. δε ουδεν εστιν ὡν οὑτοι κατηγορουσιν μου ουδεις με δυναται αυτοις χαρισασθαι καισαρα επικαλουμαι
Act 25:12 τοτε ὁ φηστος συλλαλησας μετα του συμβουλιου απεκριθη καισαρα επικεκλησαι επι καισαρα πορευση
Act 25:13 ἡμερων δε διαγενομενων τινων αγριππας ὁ βασιλευς και βερνικη κατηντησαν εις καισαρειαν ασπασαμενοι τον φηστον
Act 25:14 ὡς δε πλειους ἡμερας διετριβον εκει ὁ φηστος τω βασιλει ανεθετο τα κατα τον παυλον λεγων ανηρ τις εστιν καταλελειμμενος ὑπο φηλικος δεσμιος
Act 25:15 περι οὑ γενομενου μου εις ἱεροσολυμα ενεφανισαν οἱ αρχιερεις και οἱ πρεσβυτεροι των ιουδαιων αιτουμενοι κατ᾽ αυτου καταδικην
Act 25:16 προς οὑς απεκριθην ὁτι ουκ εστιν εθος ῥωμαιοις χαριζεσθαι τινα ανθρωπον πριν η ὁ κατηγορουμενος κατα προσωπον εχοι τους κατηγορους τοπον τε απολογιας λαβοι περι του εγκληματος
Act 25:17 συνελθοντων ουν αυτων ενθαδε αναβολην μηδεμιαν ποιησαμενος τη ἑξης καθισας επι του βηματος εκελευσα αχθηναι τον ανδρα
Act 25:18 περι οὑ σταθεντες οἱ κατηγοροι ουδεμιαν αιτιαν εφερον ὡν εγω ὑπενοουν πονηρων
Act 25:19 ζητηματα δε τινα περι της ιδιας δεισιδαιμονιας ειχον προς αυτον και περι τινος ιησου τεθνηκοτος ὁν εφασκεν ὁ παυλος ζην
Act 25:20 απορουμενος δε εγω την περι τουτων ζητησιν ελεγον ει. βουλοιτο πορευεσθαι εις ἱεροσολυμα κακει κρινεσθαι περι τουτων
Act 25:21 του δε παυλου επικαλεσαμενου τηρηθηναι αυτον εις την του σεβαστου διαγνωσιν εκελευσα τηρεισθαι αυτον ἑως οὑ αναπεμψω αυτον προς καισαρα
Act 25:22 αγριππας δε προς τον φηστον εβουλομην και αυτος του ανθρωπου ακουσαι αυριον φησιν ακουση αυτου
Act 25:23 τη ουν επαυριον ελθοντος του αγριππα και της βερνικης μετα πολλης φαντασιας και εισελθοντων εις το ακροατηριον συν τε χιλιαρχοις και ανδρασιν τοις κατ᾽ εξοχην της πολεως και κελευσαντος του φηστου ηχθη ὁ παυλος
Act 25:24 και φησιν ὁ φηστος αγριππα βασιλευ και παντες οἱ συμπαροντες ἡμιν ανδρες θεωρειτε τουτον περι οὑ ἁπαν το πληθος των ιουδαιων ενετυχον μοι εν τε ἱεροσολυμοις και ενθαδε βοωντες μη δειν αυτον ζην μηκετι
Act 25:25 εγω δε κατελαβομην μηδεν αξιον αυτον θανατου πεπραχεναι αυτου δε τουτου επικαλεσαμενου τον σεβαστον εκρινα πεμπειν
Act 25:26 περι οὑ ασφαλες τι γραψαι τω κυριω ουκ εχω διο προηγαγον αυτον εφ᾽ ὑμων και μαλιστα επι σου βασιλευ αγριππα ὁπως της ανακρισεως γενομενης σχω τι γραψω
Act 25:27 αλογον γαρ μοι δοκει πεμποντα δεσμιον μη και τας κατ᾽ αυτου αιτιας σημαναι
