20:1 Then I saw a Messenger descending from heaven with the key to the Abyss and a large chain in his hand.

20:2 He seized the dragon— the ancient serpent, the False Accuser, the Adversary— and confined him for a thousand years.

20:3 He threw him into the Abyss and then locked and sealed it over him, so that he could not mislead the nations until the thousand years were finished. After that, he must be released for a short time.

20:4 Then I saw thrones, and sitting on them were judges. The souls of those who had been beheaded on account of the testimony of Jesus and the Word of God, who had not worshiped the wild animal or its image or accepted its inscription on their forehead or hand, lived and reigned with the Anointed for a thousand years.

20:5 The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were over.This is the first resurrection.

20:6 Blessed and holy are those who have a part in the first resurrection! The second death has no jurisdiction over them, but they will be priests of God and of the Anointed, and they will reign with him during the thousand years.

20:7 When the thousand years are completed, the Adversary will be released from his prison.

20:8 And he will go out to mislead the nations in the four corners of the earth— Gog and Magog— to gather them for battle; the number of them is like the grains of sand on the seashore.

20:9 They went up all across the earth and surrounded the encampment of the holy people and the beloved city, but fire came down from the sky and consumed them.

20:10 Then the False Accuser, the one misleading them, was thrown into the lake of fire and sulphur where the wild animal and the false prophet were. They will be tortured day and night forever.

20:11 Then I saw a large white throne, and there was someone sitting on it. The earth and sky fled away from his presence but there was no place for them.

20:12 Then I saw the dead, the great and small, standing before the throne. Scrolls were opened, and then another scroll which is the Book of Life. The dead were judged according to their actions as recorded in the scrolls.

20:13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and Death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and everyone was judged according to their actions.

20:14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the Lake of Fire; this Lake of Fire is the second death.

20:15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the Book of Life was thrown into the Lake of Fire.
