3:1 This being the case, holy brothers and sisters who are associates of the heavenly calling, consider the Ambassador and Ruling Priest of our contract, Jesus.

3:2 He is faithful to the One who made him, just as Moses was out of all those in God’s house.

3:3 But this One is worthy of more honor than Moses, since the builder of the house is esteemed more highly than the house itself.

3:4 Every house is built by someone, but God built everything.

3:5 Certainly Moses was faithful in God’s house as one who could stand on his own two feet, which I’ll say more about later.

3:6 Yet the Anointed is Son over all his house. And we are that house, if we hold tightly to our hope with boldness and celebration.

3:7 So the Holy Spirit says: “If you hear his voice today,

3:8 do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion during the day of temptation in the wilderness.

3:9 That was where your ancestors tested me after knowing full well what I had done over those forty years.

3:10 So I was disgusted with that generation and said, ‘Their hearts are always wandering, yet they do not know my ways.’

3:11 And in my indignation I swore, ‘They will never enter my rest!’”

3:12 So beware, brothers and sisters, against any one of you having a wicked and unbelieving heart, withdrawing from the living God.

3:13 Instead, encourage each other daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you will be hardened and seduced into failing.

3:14 For we have become associates with the Anointed, if we hold tightly to our original hope to the end.

3:15 So while it is still called Today, if you hear his voice don’t harden your hearts as in the rebellion.

3:16 For not everyone Moses led out of Egypt rebelled against him.

3:17 But who was he disgusted with for forty years? Those who failed, whose bodies fell in the wilderness.

3:18 And who did he swear would never enter his rest? The disbelieving.

3:19 Now we can see that they were not able to enter because of disbelief.
